What is Associate Membership?
|
Associate members are the lifeblood of the UGC.
Associates
form a network of friends, supporters and participants who attend
the Club's concerts and events. Associates have a long history
with the UGC starting in 1895 where the audience included members
of New York's best-known families.

Historical Perspective:
The first Members Concert was held on January 26, 1895 in the original
Madison Square Carden. In the audience, there were 126 associate
(non-singing) members and among the luminaries were Mrs. John D.
Rockefeller, the Hon. Joseph Choate, Chauncy DePew, J. Arden Harriman,
the Hon. Seth Low, and William B. Hornblower. At the second concert in
May, 1895 Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan became an associate member.
Associates special benefits:
§
Associates are entitled to four free tickets to our semi-annual
Members Concerts. The Member Concerts are reserved
for UGC guests, members and most important, our associate members.
§
Associates are welcomed to attend rehearsals and afterglows.
§
Associates gather at UGC events including:
-
the annual SummerFest season kick-off banquet
-
the annual Hambone Quartet Contest
-
or charitable fund raising programs.
§
Associates attend UGC International Tours where dozens
of Associate Members join the UGC singing members on tours to eastern and central Europe,
Ireland, England, Italy and others.
Short of singing in concerts, Associate members have full rights and privileges of UGC's active singing members.
You may enjoy knowing that your membership helps support a
unique institution that has brought music and joy to so many for
well over a hundred and thirteen years.
